Russia imposes app on Apple and threatens to block Twitter

As of April 1 Apple will pre-install this technology on its phones in Russia. The software was invented in Russia and allows users to send messages, access the internet, send emails, order food and taxis as well as being an anti-virus.Buyers will see a dialogue box urging them to install government approved apps. Users can opt out of these apps.The pre-installation of Russian software is becoming compulsory on all iPhones, Mac laptops and computers as well as Apple TVs. Apple initially protested the law but has since accepted it rather than lose the Russian market. On March 16 the Russian government stated its intention to make Twitter unavailable in Russia if the social media platform does not conform to the law. Roskomnadzor slowed Twitter last week to punish the social media giant for failing to remove prohibited tweets. Moscow is angry that Western social media has been closing accounts that Facebook, Twitter and so on accuse of propagating Russian state propaganda. These are higher fines for social media that discriminate against Russia, and the government has the legal power to block these media. Twitter has been accused of failing to remove over 3,000 posts encouraging suicide, promoting child porn and drug abuse. The other aspect of this is that Twitter has also been used to disseminate political messages that are disobliging to the Kremlin.Only 3% of Russians use Twitter. Blocking it will not have a big impact.
