Russia moves more troops to the border with Ukraine

On April 2 the Russian government acknowledged that it has deployed additional forces to Crimea and on Ukraine's eastern border. Moscow maintains that this is not menacing. Ukraine is alarmed by this. The US government has affirmed its unstinting support for Ukraine. There has been an uptick in exchanges of fire across the ceasefire line in the past week. Experts do not believe that the military deployment is preparatory to an invasion.
