Relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia are warmer now than at any time in the past. President Putin recently visited Saudi, where he was very well received. While the Russian Federation and Saudi Arabia are not natural friends, in the past couple of years they have developed a remarkably cordial relationship: Russia would like Saudi Arabian co-operation against common foes and would also like to ensure that Saudi Arabia does not sponsor terrorism on Russian territory ever again. We discuss the evolution of Russia and Saudi Arabia's relations and Russia’s current foreign policy objectives towards Saudi Arabia.
