Russia sending nukes to Belarus

On June 25 announced that he will deploy missiles in Belarus that can carry nuclear missiles. He said this while meeting Lukashenko. The missiles will be Iskander M tactical missile systems. These can use ballistic or nuclear missiles. The missiles will be sent in the next few months. The deployment of nukes in Belarus is nothing new. Putin has referred to them a few times since the Ukraine War began. However, this is an attempt to dissuade the West Russia. Ukraine accused Russia of trying to bring Belarus into the conflict. The war is going very slowly for Russia. Russia is short of troops as is Ukraine. Belarusian troops could give Russia a significant advantage. Russia might conclude that opening another front on Ukraine would be good. Putin said Russia was willing to upgrade Belarusian Air Force jets to enable them to carry nukes. Belarus uses Su 25 planes.  In May 2022 Lukashenko said that Belarus had bought Iskander missiles that can carry nukes.
