Russian air strikes on Ukraine city as Greek PM visits

On March 6 Russia continued its aerial bombardment of Ukrainian cities. There were strikes on Odesa as the Greek Prime Minister was there. Russia has usually avoided attacking cities while a foreign leader is present. Kyriakos Mitsotakis was holding a meeting with Zelensky in Odesa. Mitsotakis was unhurt. The attack killed 5 people and damaged the port. Greece has historic links with Odesa because there was a significant Greek merchant community there for centuries. Greece is a NATO and EU country. It supports Ukraine through sanctions but has donated very little in cash or arms. Ukraine killed a Russian election official in Russian-occupied Ukraine. The Russian presidential election will be held March 15-17. The election will also take place in the five Ukrainian regions that Russia annexed. As Ukraine is being slowly driven back on the front lines, it has tried to keep the Russians off balance by killing Russian-appointed officials behind the lines. This ties Russian troops down as they try to provide security for officials. Ukraine has tried to compensate for its insufficiency of shells by more use of drones. These are often used on oil and gas facilities in western Russia.
