Russian Ruble tumbles as Germany says Navalny was poisoned

On September 2 German doctors announced that they are certain that Russian anti-corruption campaigner Alexey Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent called novichok. Whether the accusation is true or not the impact on the RUB has been dramatic. The RUB saw its most abrupt fall in 6 months. The RUB lost 2.6% of its value and reached 75.6 to the USD. The RUB has lost 20% of its value in 2020. It is at 89 to the EUR which is almost the RUB's lowest ever level against the EUR.Germany has not said that the Russian State was behind the poisoning. However, Berlin asked Russia for an explanation. Navalny is in a coma in a Berlin hospital.The markets are jittery because more sanctions could follow.
