Russians moving to Uzbekistan

Since the Russo-Ukrainian war broke out in February thousands of Russians have moved. Most have arrived in Tashkent. This is driving up the price of accommodation 15% in the last 2 months. The fall of the RUB has also impacted Uzbekistan as its economy is enmeshed with that of Russia. The Uzbek Some fell 12% against the USD in the week leading up to March 17.200 000 Uzbeks working in Russia have been laid off in the last month due to the economic downturn and have returned to Uzbekistan. Some of them are putting money into realty before their money depreciates.Russians can enter Uzbekistan without a visa. Some Russians are putting money into Uzbek accounts or buying property as a mean of circumventing sanctions on Russia. Uzbekistan has set up a new one year residency visa for investors and IT professionals. They shall be issued from April 1. Holders of these visas will have access to public healthcare and to schooling for their children.
