Senior Ukrainian general says war is a stalemate

On November 1 Valery Zaluzhny said in an article in The Economist that neither side can make a breakthrough unless they get new technology. He tacitly admitted that the counter-offensive had failed. Zaluzhny is asking for long term aid. He says a war of attrition favors Russia, which outnumbers Ukraine 3.5 to 1 in population. He said Russia has an advantage in jamming tech. Russia is increasing military production in a big way, while Western nations are not.  Some Republicans in the US cited Zaluzhny's remarks as a reason to cut aid to Ukraine. The US Congress is debating a USD 106 billion aid package for Israel and Ukraine. Some oppose the Ukrainian part of that.
