The Federal Police operation involving Banco Master reverberated across Brasília. Political connections of the bank’s controllers are being scrutinized, especially by government allies. Opposition governors Ibaneis Rocha (MDB–DF) and Cláudio Castro (Rio de Janeiro) faced pressure over operations involving the bank. In the wake of the Banco Master episode, the Lower House concluded passage of the Anti-Gang Bill, which now heads to the Senate. The Senate approved the bill limiting tax offsets (PL 458/21). The original text concerned the Rearp (Special Asset Update and Regularization Regime), but the Lower House added excerpts from the now-expired MP 1,303/25.
