The Federal Police operation reaches presidential allies

The Federal Police (PF) acted today on search and seizure warrants, under Operation “Lume”, against allies of President Jair Bolsonaro for alleged involvement in anti-democratic demonstrations. The operation was authorized by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, who is also responsible for the Fake News inquiry, and the Prosecutor General´s Office (PGR).

The operation targeted Federal Deputy Daniel Silveira (PSL-RJ), closely linked to Bolsonaro, as well as blogger Allan Santos, from the "Terça Livre" portal, in addition to publicist Sergio Lima and businessman Luís Felipe Belmonte, who are part of the political party "Aliança pelo Brasil", recently created by the president.

According to the investigators, the objective of the operation is to collect evidence about the organization of the demonstrations and those who finance them. The demonstrations recently targeted the National Congress and the Supreme Court. According to the PGR, those investigated are suspected of using social media to spread messages against democracy, encourage disobedience and are against the public order.
