The week ends on a positive note for the government. For the opposition, the balance is negative. President Lula began the week by announcing an R$11 billion public package for public security, which is the issue voters are most concerned about according to opinion polls. A new Genial/Quaest poll also showed a recovery in the government’s approval ratings. Meanwhile, the opposition is facing its most difficult moment since Flavio was announced as a presidential candidate. Audio recordings released by the press suggesting that the senator requested money from former banker Daniel Vorcaro have caused concern among allies, particularly fears that additional revelations may emerge. Today marks the deadline for amendments to the proposed constitutional amendments (PECs) addressing the end of the 6x1 work schedule, currently under discussion in a special committee in the Lower House. The issue is part of the government’s broader positive agenda.
