Currently, the trend is for the União Brasil party to leave the third-way alliance, which includes the PSDB, MDB and Cidadania. The departure of the União Brasil greatly weakens the group. Rumors about the possibility of Lula's giving up the presidential race have been recurrent but they are expected to subside after the official launch of his candidacy. Last week, Lula said, "I'm back to run for president." In economic news, it is important to note that the Selic is expected to be increased once again — from 11.75% to 12.75%.
