In our weekly report of September 16th (“The Industry’s Poor Performance and Hope in Consumption”), we showed that industry will continue bearing the brunt of the global slowdown, and that recovery of domestic activity will be increasingly dependent on household consumption, which has been expanding much more slowly than between 2006 and 2011. Although the occupied population has already surpassed the pre-crisis level by slightly over 2%, there still are no signs of faster growth of consumption. One of the reasons for this is the composition of employment, with high participation of informal jobs. In this report, we analyze what has been happening in the labor market.
