The Lava Jato investigation hits Lula

The Curitiba-based corruption investigation just dealt a big blow to the political future of Lula and the Workers’ Party (PT). The Lava Jato investigation has formally accused the former president, former first lady Marisa Letícia, the president of the Lula Institute, Paulo Okamotto, businessman Léo Pinheiro, from OAS (the company accused of paying bribes to the former president), two OAS employees and two other individuals.
The Public Ministry (MP) is asking for R$ 87 million to be returned by the OAS group. The accusation contains “14 sets of evidence that together point to the former president as the central figure in the Lava Jato investigation,” who could have decided to end the criminal scheme.
