The President of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos–PB), will meet with party leaders to discuss this week’s agenda. Two topics are expected to draw the most attention: the income tax exemption and the amnesty proposal. On the amnesty issue, the opposition continues to push for a broad text. The rapporteur, Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade–SP), had planned to present a draft this week but admitted yesterday that the new round of U.S. sanctions against individuals close to Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes will affect the bill’s progress. Today, Congressman Carlos Zaratini (PT–SP), rapporteur of Provisional Measure No. 1,303/25, concerning the taxation of betting and financial investments, is expected to present his report. The text is under review by a Joint Committee.
