Battle lines are frozen across the nation with one week left to elections. AKP-MHP have probably lost Ankara and Izmir and are struggling to make any gains against Imamoglu in Istanbul. CHP is sweating to keep its fortresses elsewhere, such as Antalya, Eskisehir and Edirne. While nothing can be ruled out in this country, it is hard to foresee events that will change the course of polls in the last days. The politics author shares his tentative predictions on potential outcomes.

With MHP now openly demanding either a new constitution or early elections to grant Erdogan a third term, the post-election panorama now entails a great deal of uncertainty. Nevertheless, Messrs. Erdogan and Bahceli need a convincing win in local elections to set in motion their plans.
