Today, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time, Brazil’s Federal Supreme Court (STF) will begin deliberations on whether to authorize an investigation into Justice Alexandre de Moraes’s relationship with former banker Daniel Vorcaro. A Quaest poll released yesterday showed a sharp increase in public concern over corruption. Compared with early September, the share of respondents citing corruption as a concern rose eight percentage points, from 14% to 22%, placing it behind only violence, at 31%. Among women, a key constituency in Lula’s 2022 victory, the president and the senator are now statistically tied. Lula holds a numerical lead of just three points over Flávio, 41% to 38%, while in July, Lula led Flávio by 12 points among female voters, 47% to 35%.
