The Supreme Federal Court (STF) continued yesterday the joint trial of two appeals concerning the civil liability of internet platforms for third-party content and the possibility of removing offensive material at the request of the affected party, without the need for a court order. Today, the justices will also resume, through the virtual plenary, the trial of an appeal in the case that authorized the “lifetime revision” of INSS pensions. On Sunday, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad will meet with party leaders to discuss alternative measures to increasing the IOF tax. Among the options being considered are the taxation of betting platforms and cryptocurrencies. Next week, the STF will begin hearing defendants in the criminal case investigating the attempted coup d’état in 2022.
