If the salary raise proposal in the STF is submitted and approved by Congress, the STF has stated that the raise must be paid with funds that have been relocated from the Judiciary's budget. The issue is the resulting domino effect, since the STF's salary is the ceiling for the civil service. Former President Lula tried to reassure the businessmen at Fiesp on some points, including guaranteeing stability of the market. The July reading is the first drop in the IPCA since May 2020 (-0.38%) and the biggest decrease in inflation recorded since record-keeping began in January 1980. The rise in prices has been a problem for the government's ratings.
