The government is racing against time to privatize Eletrobras before the election. The goal is for it to take place in June. The matter may still be taken to court — and the opposition certainly will do this. The leaderships of the third way parties will meet separately on Tuesday, May 24, to decide whether or not they agree with the appointment. As already announced last week, João Doria may take this issue to court to preserve his candidacy. After Minister Dias Toffoli rejected a criminal case against Minister Alexandre de Moraes, President Jair Bolsonaro's lawyer joined the Prosecutor General's Office with a representation against Moraes requesting the minister's investigation for alleged "abuse of authority" in the so-called “fake news” inquiry, which involves President Bolsonaro. The relationship between the two is not good.
