Quantitative and qualitative polls will be published on Wednesday, May 18, that will determine the selection of the presidential candidate of the third-way alliance. The group’s candidate was expected to be announced on May 18, but this could be postponed and announced at the end of the month instead. The Eletrobras privatization process was interrupted after Minister Vital do Rêgo submitted a request to review the case. It is expected to be approved, but with some reservations. There is still no agreement on the income tax proposal. The Ministry of the Economy advocates for a reduction in corporate income tax from 34% to 30%. The House passed a reduction to 26%. Angelo Coronel is arguing for 23.5%. Regarding taxation of profits and dividends, the government proposes 10%.
