The threat of a truckers’ strike is dominating the government’s agenda in Brasília. As announced on March 18 by Transportation Minister Renan Filho, the government plans to expand electronic monitoring of freight nationwide, in addition to strengthening on-the-ground enforcement. Today is the deadline for President Lula (PT) to sign into law the bill that reduces tax rates for chemical and petrochemical industries participating in a special tax regime until their transition to a new framework set to take effect in 2027 (PLP No. 14/26). It is worth noting that Daniel Vorcaro’s legal defense is currently negotiating a plea agreement.
