The key environmental audit of the copper mine will be out at the end of this week. After a two month period for national discussion, President José Raúl Mulino will, on July 1, present the strategy for reopening of the mine. We discuss the executive, legislative and judicial challenges Panama will face over the handling of Cobre Panamá. Our new economic growth projections are sensitive to the formal reopening: 4% in 2026, 5.2% in 2027 and 6.1% in 2028. The increase in international oil and gasoline prices has not impacted local economic activity -- so far.
