Yesterday evening, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) proposed imposing a 25% tariff on all imports from Brazil, except for goods classified as being subject to "national security tariffs". According to the document released late at night, the measure is justified by a series of actions, policies, and practices by the Brazilian government that are deemed “unreasonable” and that “burden or restrict” U.S. commerce. Today, Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) is expected to meet with party leaders to discuss the legislative timetable for the constitutional amendment proposal that would end Brazil’s six-days-on, one-day-off (6x1) work schedule. Yesterday, São Paulo’s Civil Police carried out an operation targeting the Instituto Conhecer Brasil (ICB), a non-profit organization suspected of fraud involving a R$108 million-per-year contract with the São Paulo municipal government to install public Wi-Fi infrastructure across the city. The organization is owned by businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, a partner at Go UP, the production company behind "Dark Horse", a film about former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
