There are no conditions to implement a tax reform in 2021.

In a long interview to review the first 9 months of his administration, President Luis Abinader indicated that there are no conditions for a tax reform in 2021 and that it is necessary to reach an agreement to see when is the best time to implement said reform. He said that the social forces of the country will be consulted. He indicated that the government does not want to present a tax reform without presenting what the Expenditure Budget will be for 2022, since it is important to explain how the additional revenue will be collected as well as what it will be spent on. President Abinader specified that the reform must be comprehensive, including a tax reform as well as a expenditure reform. He said the government is conducting reform processes in 12 areas. The President also indicated that the minimum wage must be increased in order to recover the purchasing power lost due to the increase in inflation.
