Starting Friday (July 17), the National Congress will recess and resume activity on August 3. Upon return, however, lawmakers will maintain a reduced schedule due to the electoral period. The Senate may vote this week on Provisional Measure (MP) No. 1,343/26, which deals with minimum freight rates. Its validity expires on July 17. The text was approved by the House on June 17 but has been stalled in the Senate. The deadline for negotiations between Brazil and the United States over the imposition of 25% tariffs on Brazilian exports ends on Wednesday (July 15). U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on July 9 that the final decision by the U.S. government will be made “very soon.”
