Tisza published its policy platform document yesterday

Roughly two months ahead of the election, Tisza published its policy platform on February 7, a 240-page document under the title: 'Foundations of a functioning and humane Hungary'. According to speakers from Tisza, this was prepared by more than 1000 experts over the past one and a half years.Using the usual domestic political jargon, they call it a party program, but it is not one. A program is a list of actions that are planned to take place at a specifically preset time. Tisza's 'program' is not one of those (and it should not necessarily be). It is a comprehensive and detailed problem map of today's Hungary, together with Tisza's intended solutions for the identified problems, without the specification of a time schedule in over 90% of the cases, for no less than 30 different policy areas. Even in the case of the remaining less than 10%, where a specific time schedule is given for intended action, that schedule is set for long term, 5, 10 or 15 years. Only a small fraction of the intended policy steps is determined as a short-term task, affecting the 2026-2027 period in the form of specifically defined policy measures, even though the rest of the list is also meant, indirectly, to represent tasks on which action is to begin immediately.On the basic message of the document, Tisza is defined as a pro-democracy, pro-European, centre-right political force, pretty much the kind the EU's political mainstream, and more specifically the christian-democrat European People's Party, to which Tisza formally belongs, is believed to be dreaming of.
