During a UN meeting yesterday, President Donald Trump said he had a brief conversation with President Lula and that the two will hold a meeting next week. In an interview with CNN, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira stated that the conversation is expected to take place by phone or videoconference. One of the repercussions was the postponement of the report by Congressman Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade–SP) on the bill dealing with amnesty. Paulinho has signaled support for a draft that addresses sentence reductions. On the Senate floor, today’s highlight is the vote on the complementary bill (PLP No. 108/22) establishing the Management Committee for the Goods and Services tax (IBS). The report by Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB–AM) was approved last week by the Constitution and Justice Committee.
