UK extends sanctions on Russia

On April 26 London announced further sanctions on 22 individuals from Russia and other countries such as South Africa and Sudan. This involves asset freezes and restrictions on businesses associated with the named people.14 Russian allegedly concerted in a tax fraud worth USD 230 million of Russian public property. The scheme was supposedly exposed by Sergei Magnitsky.The Gupta brothers in South Africa are on the list.The United States applauded the British decision. The UK is following the suit of the US and Canada.The UK says it shall not accept dirty money. The aim of the sanctions is to encourage democracy and the rule of law.
