Ukrainians advance into Donbas

On September 11 the Ukrainians continued to move south and east from Kharkiv. There were unconfirmed reports of fighting near Donetsk Airport. Ukraine claims to have liberated Izyum, taken hundreds of prisoners and advanced 70km.  The Russians reinforced Kherson in August 2022. This required them to reduce troop levels in the Donbas Region. Ukraine noticed that Russian positions in Donbas were very lightly held. The Ukrainians have taken advantage of this in a lightning campaign. Russian state media confirmed heavy fighting in Donbas and said reinforcements have been dispatched. It also reported some Russian retreats.  On September 9th the pro-Russian authorities in east Ukraine announced that they will postpone planned referenda about uniting with Russia.
