Ukrainians turn away from Russia media

A report published on December 15 showed that since 2014 Ukraine has been restricting the activities of the Russian media in Ukraine. Over 70 Russian TV channels have been banned. Since 2017 several Russian social networks have been stopped in Ukraine. Russian newspapers hardly sell any copies in Ukraine.In 2014 20% of Ukrainians watched Russian TV. That figure is now 4%. Only 1 in 3 of those viewers say that they trust Russian news. 13% of people read Russian news online. Even if the ban on Russian TV is lifted as part of a peace agreement some people have fallen out of the habit of watching Russian TV and may not return. All Russian media is viewed by most Ukrainians as an arm of Kremlin propaganda. Some of those Ukrainians who rely on Russian media are in Donbass and Luhansk.There are some Ukrainian media outlets that are pro-Moscow. The Opposition Bloc For Life is a political party that is pro-Moscow.Ukrainian media is now more Ukrainian language than it was even 5 years ago. There are some older ethnic Ukrainians who cannot speak the Ukrainian language and only speak Russian. However, among people under 30 almost everyone can speak Ukrainian.
