US imposes sanctions on Putin confidante

On September 30 the United States introduced sanctions on the Internet Research Agency (IRA). The IRA is based in St Petersburg, Russia and is accused by the US of being a troll farm that interfered in the 2016 presidential election. Washington believes that a confidante of Putin named Yevgeny Prigozhin finances the IRA. Two more men have been added to the sanctions black list by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (USOFAC). USOFAC also put three companies on the black list these are Autolex Transport, Beratex Group and Linberg Industries. They are said to be connected to the billionaire Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prigozhin (known as 'the chef') was placed on a sanctions list in 2018.
