Western sources say Ukraine blew up Nord Stream Pipeline.

On November 11 The Washington Post and a German magazine cited Western and Ukrainian intelligence sources as saying that Ukraine was behind the explosion in 2022. Ukraine has accused Russia of blowing up the gas pipeline. Russia said that Ukraine did it. The pipeline in the Baltic Sea carried gas from Russia to Germany. The destruction of the pipeline made it less likely that Germany would try to end the war so it could benefit from cheap Russian gas. The pipeline provided 40% of the EU's gas. A Ukrainian special forces officer has been accused of being the brains behind the explosion. He is said to have expedited the logistics for 6 people who hired a boat using aliases and used deep-sea diving apparatus to lay explosives on the pipeline. Ukraine has strenuously denied any connection to the attack. There have been reports since March 2023 in the Western media that Ukrainians acting without authorization did this. But the news reports go further and give more detail.
