Zelensky in Romania

On October 10 Zelensky visited Romania for the first time since the war began. He thanked Romania for its military and humanitarian support. He met the President of Romania. The two held a joint press conference. Controversially, he was not allowed to address parliament; some Romanian politicians might have heckled him. Some feel that the country has been too supportive. Russian drone warfare against Ukraine has come within a few hundred meters of Romania. Some Romanians think that backing Ukraine runs an unnecessary risk. The presidents signed an agreement aimed at doubling the goods transit capacity from Ukraine to Romania. Zelensky stated that his country needs immediate help rebuilding essential infrastructure destroyed in the war.  Romania borders Ukraine and has accepted 100,000s of refugees. Ukrainian grain is transiting Romania to be sold abroad. Romania is a NATO and EU former communist country.. Romania hosts a US Military base. Ukrainian pilots will be trained there on F16s. Moldova is in between Romania and Ukraine. Its languages are Romanian and Russian. Some people say there is a Moldovan language but Romania says that is a myth. Many Romanians would like to see Moldova re-join Romania. Romania wants Ukraine to state that there is no Moldovan language.
