Zelensky's charm offensive yields little result

On April 16 Zelensky went to Paris to meet Macron. He also spoke to Angela Merkel by videolink. The politicians discussed the Russian forces missing on Ukraine's border. Macron signed a declaration calling for Ukraine to be admitted to the EU. However, Macron did not call for Ukraine to be allowed into NATO, which is what Zelensky was hoping for. Germany and Ukraine asked Russia to withdraw its forces from the Ukrainian frontier. Advisers of the leaders met on April 19 under the auspices of the Normandy Format. So far they have not produced an outcome. Biden has said if he meets Putin he shall not broach he issue of Donbass. Ukraine is disappointed by this.
